An Update From Our CCO
What a summer it has been. Congratulations to the England Women’s Football Team for bringing it home! It was great to see the nation coming together to support the team and we can all be proud of what they achieved. As the father of a daughter who plays football, I know how important it is for young girls to have female role models they can aspire to.
While I won’t get into the politics, we are all now looking on with intrigue as the Conservatives choose a new leader and our future Prime Minister.
We have also just experienced an unprecedented heatwave, with temperatures reaching 40 Celsius and the impacts of climate change were brought very close to home. I think this shows us that we all need to be doing our bit to address these issues and I am proud that we continue to rollout our EV services across London. We have now provided over 2.5 million EV miles and saved 600,000kg carbon from London’s air.
Industrial action on the rail network, both nationally and in London, is causing disruption for all of us and we are seeing huge spikes in demand during these periods. We are doing all we can to incentivise drivers to work during these periods and for the previous three strikes we have increased prices by £5, all of which goes to the driver.
This month we have made some changes to our courier service. Coinciding with a brand-new enhanced deal for our couriers where we are now offering a range of benefits, we are also updating our service to make sure it’s fit to continue to deliver London’s best and largest same-day courier operation. One of these changes is the rebranding and redefining of the ‘Direct’ service. Now called ‘Priority’, the service will align with our environmental promise – to reduce Carbon Emissions – through efficient use of our fleet and technology. We have also introduced a fuel surcharge, which is pegged to the current price of fuel and is designed to support couriers through the current fuel price increases. You can find out further details here.
Finally, last month I told you about our attendance at the Business Travel Show. I am really pleased to say that the two-day event went well, and the Addison Lee stand was a showcase for all the work we have delivered on sustainability, innovation, and safety over the last year – with a few teasers on where we are heading next. It was great to see so many old friends and make new acquaintances. A big thank you to Rachel Connolly, our Sales Enablement Manager, for her vision and delivery.
Thanks, and have a great summer.
